T.Whid: Hi and welcome back to MTAA’s couch surfing on Lee Walton’s blog. This week we are browsing the web in search of the Most Awesome Post-War Artwork of All Time…Ever (MAPWAOATE) AKA the Spiral Jetty

M.River: In today’s search, we find out that the Jetty is not only a awesome artwork but also a pretty good India Pale Ale. So says The Barley Blog – “Epic Brewing Spiral Jetty IPA”

and this guy from uTube

T.Whid: Yes, Although I would like to point out that IMHO the Spiral Jetty is more of a Double Bock than an IPA, MTAA does like the thought that some brew person in Utah thought – “Hey, this beer is fantastic. I think I’ll name it after a local entropic earth artwork. “

M.River: Yup, an excellent, if not epic, branding choice for the Epic Brewery. Unfortunately, the good folks a DIA are just not into it.

Modern Art Notes – Dia threatens Utah’s Epic over Spiral Jetty IPA

T.Whid: It looks like this will come down to a hard case of WWSD – “What Would Smithson Do?”

M.River: Although we’re not sure WWSD (we kinda suspect he would grab a 6-pack and enjoy the sunset over the Jetty), we do know that MTAA would like to give any brewery in the world the right to name a beer after any MTAA artwork.

T.Whid: Yes, go for it. We would love to see a Simple Net Art Diagram Hefeweizen some day. Until then, join us again on this Thursday for more Jetty thoughts.
