Dear Sofia,
I am contacting you in regards to my dream of making it to the “Big Screen”. For years, I have been dedicated to this “Hollywood” dream and have been preparing myself both mentally and physically.
Unlike most young aspiring actors, I have not chosen the easy path that leads to champagne bubble baths, long black limousines and mansions in the hills. I have taken the more challenging path…I am aspiring to become an “Extra”.
Many years ago, I had an epiphany that changed my focus and direction in acting. I realized that the path to becoming a “movie star” would be to simple and in the long run unrewarding. The light at the end of the tunnel was shining too bright and my instinct was to go in the opposite direction.
Since that time I have been studying and perfecting the role of the “everyday man”. Not being familiar with this character, I was immediately excited about the challenge and began to dedicate myself completely.
I believe strongly that in order to truly understand a character you must first become that character. Over the last decade, I have altered my lifestyle to become the “everyday man”. For example, I have taken many odd jobs, spent countless hours in diners drinking black coffee, altered my diet toward faster and cheaper food, cut my fitness routine down to practically nothing, learned to spit, chemically triggered male pattern baldness and I got married.
It has taken years of practice to perfect this character and I am confident that my dedication will pay off as a perfect “extra” in any of your blockbuster films.
Along with this letter, I have enclosed a DVD with 8 short clips along with three photos exemplifying my craft as an “extra”. Please do not hesitate to contact my agent, Heather Marx with questions or to set up an audition. She can be reached at 415-627-9111.Sincerely,
Lee Walton
