LIFE / THEATER: THE HARBOURFRONT
September 1st, Labor Day- 2008
A live performance taking place on the Harbourfront promenade directly outside of The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery, Toronto, Ontario
In conjunction with 'NOT QUITE HOW I REMEMBER IT', an exhibition exploring forms or re-enactment and reconstruction
Performance Times at 2pm, 4pm, 6pm
Mixing real life and theater, Walton will orchestrate a performance involving over 50 actors and countless unknowing participants in his new Life/Theater production.
For the duration each 30 minute performance, carefully selected actors will seamlessly blur themselves with the real characters of the Harbourfront. Meanwhile, the audience will observe the passerby's, wondering who is "real" and who is "not real". To challenge the spectators, actors will be playing out simple everyday activities- such as sipping coffee, stopping to look at the boats, chuckling to themselves, or perhaps zipping up a sweatshirt. Of course, a non-participating passerby will naturally appear suspect- however, the orchestrated actors will eventually reveal themselves to the audience through identical loops of repetitive action.
To participate in this performance as an actor or recruiter, please contact the artist immediately.
All you need to do is be yourself!*
