As part of its 2009 public art program Inside Out: Artists in the Community II, the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) needs performers of all ages, backgrounds, and levels of experience. Professionals are welcome, amateurs are encouraged, and even if you’ve never acted (but always wanted to try), we need you! Artist Lee Walton is organizing a series of short, unscripted performances that will take place at locations across Winston-Salem, from street corners and bus stops to park benches and shopping malls.

Rather than traditional theater, these are “plays” of everyday life events: singing to the music on your headphones, spilling coffee, carrying too many grocery bags, or having an argument with a boyfriend/girlfriend. In these performances of otherwise daily occurrences, the line between life and theater is redrawn, and often erased.

Each actor will take part in 3 performances. Each performace will happen on 3 Saturdays or 3 Sundays from May 3rd - May 30th.

If you are intersested in performing or just want to learn more about the project, please contact Lee Walton immediately.
