The most recent Charcoal Chess Open Tournament took place at the University of Toronto. For this official Hart House Chess Club tournament, all games were played on paper with charcoal.
This 6-hour event brought numerous members of the Toronto community together, both inside and outside the chess and art world.
The drawings document the action of each game through smudges, erasure marks and scrawling chess pieces lined up along the edge of the page.
