BATTER WINS | PITCHER WINS

What you need:

A standard deck of cards (no Jokers)

Number of Players:

Two

Game Play (9 Innings)

Without looking, a player picks a card from the deck. If the card is red, that player is the home team. If the card is black, that player is the away team.

12 cards are dealt the each player facedown. A 13th card is dealt facedown to the side of each player. These are known as the “bench cards”.   Place the remaining cards to the side.

Each player looks at the 12 cards they have been dealt. The 13th card (or bench card) remains unseen.

These 12 cards, and the bench card, are the only cards that can be used for the entire inning – both hitting and pitching. (Manage your hands strategically!)

Like baseball, the home team is always pitching at the top of the inning and the away team is always batting. In the bottom of the inning, the home team bats and the away team pitches.

How To Play

Each player selects one card from their hand and place it in the middle of the table. When each player has established their selected card, they are revealed.

Each combination has a specific outcome. Refer to the “Situation Sheet”. Keep track of the game (outs, base runners, score) accordingly.

In the rare case that each player has exhausted their original 12 cards, 3 new cards are dealt to that player. Game play continues as normal. Note, a player is never required to use a “bench card”.

Bench Cards

Once per inning, a player can decide to use their unseen “bench card”. To do this, the player must:

  1. Declare to his opponent that he/she is using the “bench card.”
  2. Remove one of their original cards from game play.
  3. Place the unseen “bench card” down in the middle of the table.
  4. The “bench card” is revealed as normal play and both players see its value for the first time.
