The Animateurs, The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery
Exhibition: Not Quite How I Remember It (2008)

For his project, I collaborated with the Power Plant animateurs. Animateurs are gallery guides and help bring the exhibition to life for visitors.  Playing off this idea, I led the animateurs through the city of Toronto and performed a series of improvised actions. Only a single photo was taken of the location an action took place. No documentation of my performances were permitted. Animateurs needed to rely purely on observation.

Visitors to the exhibition could see the photos of each location. They could ask the Animateurs about my actions, the only record being recollection and memory. The art work existed in how the Animateurs chose to recount the performances and what they left out essentially never happened.
