MTAA – Day 4 Hoopers and Dervishes
Featured — By lee on May 19, 2011 7:04 pmT.Whid: Hello and welcome back to MTAA’s couch surfing on Lee’s blog. In yesterday post, we pondered What Would Smithson Do (WWSD) about a beer company naming an IPA beer after one of his works. Although we will never know what he thinks about the IPA, we are fairly sure what he would feel about our next Jetty find. He would feel, as I think we all do, awkward.
M.River: And nothing says awkward more than a Hollywood photographer poising a group of local Utah ladies in cheesecake outfits on top your sculpture and that’s what you’ll find at
spiraljettysirens.com
T.Whid: Yes, on Saturday May 8th, 2010, photographer Tom Clark celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Jetty with if not a NSFW photo shoot, at least a SEISSTAW (somewhat embarrassed if someone saw this at work).
M.River: Not that we at MTAA would stop Tom in his quest for beauty at the Jetty, we just think if you are going to use the Most Awesome Post-War Artwork of All Time…Ever (MAPWAOATE) as your backdrop, you need to bring your A game.
T.Whid: Maybe he could have used local Hula Hoopers.
M:River:Yes, or Whirling Dervishes. Or Both. Now that would be awesome.
T.Whid: Yes, the possibilities are endless like the Jetty itself. Tomorrow we’ll wrap up the week like the Jetty wraps up the lake. See you then.
